PERSIAN ROSE

What are Persian Roses?

☀️ The Origin of the Persian Rose is traditionally linked to the Middle East, where they have been used for thousands of years, for their healing and cosmetic properties.

The Persian Rose is a cultivated flower , since they are not currently found in the wild.

Its botanical name is Rosa Damascena and it is one of the most important species of the Rosaceae family, it belongs to the group of ancient roses, it is a hybrid plant that is the result of the crossing of several ancient wild roses. It is also known as the Rose of Alexandria or the Turkish Rose.

Here in Europe it was around the 13th century when Robert de Brie, on his return from the Crusades, introduced it to France, he also entered Europe through Spain through Morocco and in Bulgaria it was introduced by the Turks through mid 16th century.

The largest producers of Persian Rose in the world are: Turkey, Iran, Bulgaria, France, India, to a lesser extent Morocco, Tunisia, countries where Rose oil is historically produced.

We can find two typical forms of presentation , in Sprouts and in petals.

As Persian Roses are very delicate, they must be collected by hand.

They can only be harvested for a few days a year, the appropriate time will be in late spring.

There is usually some confusion between the Persian Rose and the Rosehip , but both are very different , since in addition to being the Persian Rose a more sophisticated flower than the Musk that is wild, its extraction process to obtain various preparations such as oil is diametrically different, as we will see below

To produce Rosa Mosqueta oil the bulbs of this plant are pressed and they are bulbs that have not yet developed the smell and that contain different properties from those of the Persian Rose, instead To extract the essence of the Persian Rose, the flowers must be picked when the flower is beginning to open its petals and in the early hours of the morning when the sun has not yet begun to heat, and thus achieve all its properties intact. , to later produce the essence of the Persian Rose through the distillation of its young and scented petals, giving this process an oil with unparalleled characteristics.
